Data Tier Administrator: Portsmouth, NH (229699)
Job Description

Our Seacoast NH client is looking for a Data Tier Administrator. The successful candidate will be responsible for deployment, operations, and system availability of all database or data tier storage platforms used for hosted solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates in database development and deployment for projects by embedding in a collaborative team.
  • Develops or writes management, monitoring and remedial scripts for all database platforms.
  • Recommends solutions by determining high-availability, database security, database backup, and recovery capabilities against platform requirements.
  • Continually optimizes database performance by identifying configuration settings; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; and monitoring deployed enhancements to the database platforms.
  • Works with infrastructure and application teams to analyze, benchmark and adjust for changing performance requirements.
  • Educates operators and support technicians by developing and conducting training; providing documentation; resolving incidents and problems.
  • Writes or Develops analytical and reporting solutions for database management, monitoring and metrics.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional organizations.
  • Contributes to team effort by performing other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • 5 years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server in a high-availability environment.
  • Experience working in a data-as-a-service solution such as Azure SQL, Amazon RDS or Google SQL required.
  • Azure SQL and/or NoSQL databases experience preferred.
  • Proven track record of database management, maintenance, and optimization in medium to large customer-facing environments.
  • Strong proficiency for executing manual and automated backup and restore processes.
  • Experience with PowerShell desired.
  • Excellent customer service, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
  • Weekend and other off hours work is required as business needs dictate for deployment and escalation purposes.
  • Ability to develop and follow established processes and procedures.
  • Ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with frequent software releases.
  • Education:  BS in Computer Science or MIS preferred
